Getting There

Mount Hutt Ski Field is located in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, approximately 2 hours drive from Christchurch. Shuttle bus services are available from Christchurch and Methven, and a car park is available on site for those driving.

Facilities

  • Food and drink: The base lodge offers various food options such as Sixteen10 coffee bar, Sky High Café and Opuke Kai. Additionally, you can also stop by the Corona Bar located halfway down the mountain at the top of Highway 72 and Broadway runs while skiing.
  • Retail store: open 7 days from 9am to 4pm
  • Ski storage: secure day storage is available with on-mountain lockers and you can pay by credit card or EFTPOS, overnight storage is available for Mt Hutt rental equipment only - pre-book your rental equipment with your travel specialist. This is handy so you don't have to cart your equipment down and up the mountain every day.
  • Mt Hutt offers free parking in their main and lower shuttle car parks. On busy days, additional parking is available with a free shuttle service to the base area. Real-time updates on the car park and road status can be found on their website.
  • First aid: Mt Hutt Snow Patrol manage any medical situations or emergencies

Childcare

  • Mount Hutt Ski Field offers a ski school program for children (ages 3-6), and a Kids Club program for children (ages 7-14). Both programs are run by experienced instructors and provide a safe and fun environment for children to learn to ski or snowboard.
  • Skiwiland: fully licensed early learning centre offering a range of experiences. Includes fun indoor and on-snow learning experiences (ages 2-5) or a group ski lesson with rental equipment (ages 3-5)

Lessons are available for skiing or snowboarding and cater to all levels from beginners to experts, all lessons can be pre-booked through your travel specialist.

Terrain

Mount Hutt Ski Field offers a variety of terrain over 365 hectares, for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, with the longest run being 2.2km. The resort offers a mix of groomed runs, off-piste terrain, and terrain parks. There are also several chairlifts and a high-speed gondola that provide access to the mountain.
